Celebrating the season (and birthday) with a giveaway!

Here’s hoping that you had an amazing Christmas Day with family and friends, with more focus on Jesus than on what was under the Christmas tree! ¬† ūüėČ ¬†Once again, I had a great Christmas in the tropics, with the requisite cool breezes and tranquil scenery. ¬†*clinks imaginary wine glass to the computer screen* ¬†To the good life!

¬†Another year older…

Today, I celebrate yet another event. ¬†A year has zipped by since I celebrated a milestone birthday. ¬†What in the world happened to 2012? ¬†It’s gone. ¬†I’m gettin’ old, y’all!

I’ll be honest: ¬†this year was a bear. ¬†A huge, voracious grizzly that often¬†tried to¬†convince me that it would take me out. ¬†When it wasn’t health, it was the plantation work, or it was the (missing) ¬†Benjamins. ¬†But God… ¬†To put a new twist on the old Charles Schwab ad: ¬†when others said “no,” God said “yes!” ¬† On to another one!

A giveaway to ring in the new year

Guys, Embrace the Struggle has finally migrated from Blogger to WordPress! ¬†(Nonbloggers are going “huh??”) ¬†This was one of my goals since the beginning of the year. ¬†Loving it! ¬†Kudos and beaucoup thanks to Kesha at XDwebsolutions.com¬†for a great job and for extending great grace and patience to me.¬†

To mark this new beginning–and the new year–Embrace the Struggle is offering a giveaway of the Food Matters DVD and Detox Guide e-book. ¬†After our holiday food and drink binges indulgences, it’ll be great to start the new year on the right footing, health-wise.

You can participate in the giveaway in any of the following three ways:

  1. Comment below on the blog about your health and fitness resolutions for the new year;
  2. Comment on our Facebook page or share the Facebook link to this post on your Facebook page; or
  3. Tweet this post, mentioning @EmbraceStruggl1 and including the hashtag #ETSnewyeargiveaway.
The giveaway ends on January 7, at which time the winner will be selected randomly.  I’ll e-mail the lucky giveaway recipient directly and announce the name in the January 10 blog post.

A new Embrace the Struggle feature

I’ve been toying for almost a year with the concept of a weekly curated blog post through which I’d bring to you some of the goodies I read/saw/heard online during the week. ¬†Well, beginning on Saturday, January 5, Embrace the Struggle will begin Saturday Soup. ¬†Make sure to come on back to see what’s really caught my attention in the first week of January!

And … a grateful heart!

I’m blessed to have this blog and to know and interact with you, the Embrace the Struggle tribe. ¬†Thanks for subscribing, following, reading, commenting, encouraging, and lurking!¬† ūüôā ¬†Love you all! ¬†Invite your friends to join us as we embrace new struggles–and overcome them, with God’s help– in 2013. ¬†And do share with me some of the topics you’d like to see us “embrace” on the blog.

  1. Hi! I have a couple of fitness goals… I want to get on the field at homecoming as an alumni cheerleader. When showing my daughter the photos of me in my uniform back blah blah years ago – I know she thinks that it is impossible that I could have ever looked like that, so I would like to get somewhere near that shape. I have until October to do it. I have already given up pork and any seafood without fins and scales. Now to get this body moving! Congratulations on your new design and a great year in blogging… Happy Birthday and Happy New Year! ūüôā

  2. I would like to train to run a half marathon this year,

  3. Congrats on your migration. Yay! When I grow up, I wanna do that too:-) I enjoy following your blog. I’m training for another half marathon and hoping to eat cleaner in the new year. God Bless you on all your new endeavors.

  4. Hey Alison! First off, I would like to say happy belated birthday and congratulations on your transition from blogger to wordpress! 2012 has been a crazy year, but I believe that 2013 has much prosperity in store for us!

For the new year, I hope to be on a better fitness kick! I need to get serious about being physically fit and working out more. I’ve almost rid myself of my bad eating habits, so now I’m hoping to be more consistent with my working out in conjunction with eating well.

Thanks for sharing this giveaway with us ūüôā

    • Hey Drea! All the very best to you and yours for 2013! Like you, I need to up my fitness game next year, especially strength training. I’ve improved my eating, but I plan to get into the gym more consistently so that I can maintain a decent schedule and keep my weight at the ideal throughout the year.
