Some items are so beautiful/useful/handy/inventive that you just can’t get enough of them. Here are my top five; the list is subject to change because I’m always on the lookout for new stuff. And no, I am not affiliated with any of these products.
Butler Bag by Jen Groover
Dubbed the world’s #1 compartmentalized bag, the Jen Groover Butler Bag is so worth it. I’m an organizing freak, so those big bags that can hold the kitchen sink do not work for me.
Enter the Butler Bag. Just enough compartments to fit all those things we women cannot do without. Soft, supple leather and spiffy silver hardware. Price: a little steep, but you savvy ladies who know how to shop will get good deals. And don’t fall for the vinyl knockoffs!
Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Soap
Dr. Bronner’s combination of organic carrier and essential oils really is a magical concoction that has won me over. This Castille soap gets my top mark, not just for being a great bath soap, but for its ability to clean tubs and sinks to perfection, as well as makeup brushes. Be gone, smelly chemical concoctions! Dr. Bronner gets the job done in no time, with no noxious fumes poisoning me. I’m partial to the Unscented Baby soap, but the peppermint version is the most popular.
Mary Kay Beauty Blotters Oil Absorbing Tissues
Oily and combination skin people, here’s a sure-fire way to avoid an oil slick on your face! For a T-zoner like me, these Mary Kay blotters are heaven-sent. You get 75 in a plastic case, and they’re larger and more refreshing than those of the competition.
Plus, they’re portable (I keep packs at home, in the car, and in the office), the price is great, and they leave your skin looking mah-vuh-lus. True to their promise, they soak up excess oil, remove shine, don’t mess up makeup, and leave no powder residue. Woot! Woot!
Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes! Mascara
The good folks at Tarte claim that this bestselling mascara is “a push-up bra for your lashes” and is clinically proven to increase lash volume by 424%. Huh? Well, yours truly had to find out for herself. People, it works! It does indeed lengthen, curl, and thicken lashes to the point that they look like falsies.
But what really cinched the deal for me is the fact that Tarte’s mascara is free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and other icky stuff that can harm the eyes, yet it’s full of great natural ingredients. The price is a bit up in the clouds, but given all the other positives, that’s a negative that I can live with.
Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar
I am an apple cider vinegar (ACV) evangelist. I tout its virtues to anyone who will listen. And Bragg’s Organic ACV is truly the mother of all cider vinegars. It contains “the mother,” the stringy material that contains all of the benefits of ACV.
And the benefits are many. It helps me control appetite and weight and is phenomenal in battling colds and flu. I take a teaspoon or two in a glass of water and drink it throughout the day as a tonic, and if the flu is coming on, I drink that concoction all day long. Others say it is a skin smoother, toxin remover, blood pressure regulator, immune system builder, and ph balancer.
The downside? The taste. Ack. But I’ve seen ACV work for me, so I can tolerate the taste.
