It’s been real the last few days, work-wise and health-wise. I feel like I’m coming off of the rough side of the mountain, so I’m getting my gratitude on! Thank you, Lord, for bringing me through!
Can I share with you how much I’m over winter? It’s officially spring as of today, and I’m looking forward to this type of weather and scenery.
2. Completing a major work project in record time
When the going gets tough, God shows up and carries me through. I had a daunting challenge at work, and time and resources were working against me. Yesterday I was relieved to hand the project in after much overtime, hitches, glitches, and stress. I truly was carried on eagles’ wings and …
3. The support of cooperative coworkers
Unity truly is strength, and it’s a huge blessing to be working with people who will go the extra mile and not give you grief in the process. Ladies, I appreciate and honor you. You’re the best! May you be repaid for your willingness, flexibility, and commitment to doing your work well.
4. Less than a month until I visit St. Kitts
I’ll only be there for a week, but any time spent with friends and family is a good time. I know the snow will be well behind me, but relaxing on the beach, celebrating my Mom’s birthday with her, and spending Easter with family: priceless!
5. The Sole Hope project
Back in November, I was introduced to the Sole Hope project, which provides shoes, made from jeans and other fabric, for children in Africa who are prone to develop jiggers in their feet. I threw out the idea of hosting a Sole Hope shoe party on my Facebook page and got a good response, so I’ve bought my Sole Hope shoe kit and will be hosting a shoe cutting party next month. If you’re interested, hit me up in the comments, on FB, or through e-mail.
6. Jesus Feminist for $1.99 on Kindle? Yes!
I’d read a sample of Jesus Feminist and knew I wanted to buy it. My intention this Lent was to cut back on spending, so no new books. Well, hello! How could I pass up Sarah Bessey’s Jesus Feminist, which was on sale yesterday on Kindle for $1.99? Thanks again, Sheila Seiler Lagrand, for the heads-up on this deal. Sweet!
7. No vet trips so far this year!
The head of the household (no, it’s not me!) has been well for the entire winter; we have not had to see Dr. Bob or Dr. Kris since last fall. For that, I’m extremely grateful. Just stepping into the vet’s office is almost $100. Pet lovers, you feel me, I know. So here’s a prayer that this healthy streak will continue.
8. Natural remedies to the rescue
I truly dislike having to take conventional medicine, but I felt sufficiently sick last week that I agreed to the doctor’s recommendations. They made no significant difference. My girl Tricia suggested some slippery elm bark. Let me tell you: that stuff was the hook-up! I’m a healed woman. Glory!
9. A snow day on Monday
As much as I’m over the snow, I was glad to be home on Monday. My very kind neighbor shoveled for me, so that sweetened the deal even more! This scene? Hopefully I won’t be seeing it for another eight or nine months.
10. New recipes
I love trying out new recipes and adding new ingredients to my cooking repertoire. My friend Michelle at A Dish of Daily Life has been serving up some yummy recipes, and Pasta with Salmon and Leeks gets a “two thumbs up” from me. Give it a try, guys!
What are you thankful for this week?
