Monday Melody – From The Inside Out

It’s too early in the year to be this busy! I had a good weekend, however. I see my one word for 2013 already coming into effect. God is awesome in providing opportunities and moving hearts and minds to fulfill His plan.  It’s up to us to open our ears and eyes to the possibilities He places before us!

Song/Album:

“From The Inside Out” by Hillsong United on the album United We Stand.

Why it made the cut:

The measured, melodic, and alternately tender and tough rendition of this praise song brings to the fore the importance of giving God in first place in one’s heart.  If  only we could get that one thing right!  Then all the rest falls into place.

I love the concepts that the song brings to the fore:  grace, mercy, glory, praise, justice, and the Kingdom of God.  What a perfect song to enter the presence of God and worship Him heartily!

Great poetry flows from this anthem on this, the band’s seventh live praise and worship album.  The song was written by Hillsong United’s band leader Joel Houston, the eldest son of Hillsong Church’s senior pastors Brian and Bobbie Houston.  Joel is also the lead vocalist on this guitar-driven and rock-influenced track.  The blend of acoustic and electric guitars creates an atmosphere of contemporary praise and worship that is evident in the video below and is clearly transmitted to the heart of every worshiper.

Artist:

Hillsong United started out in the late 1990s as United Live, a youth worship band that emerged from Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, Darlene Zschech’s church.

Under the initial leadership of Reuben Morgan and Marty Sampson of Hillsong Church, United Live put out its first album, Everyday, in 1999 and then recorded another three albums before switching its name to Hillsong United.

The current band leader is musician, songwriter, and pastor Joel Houston, who has helped lead worship conferences in North and South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.  Many of the songs he has written or co-written are sung in churches worldwide and have been translated into more than two dozen languages.  He also contributes to the main Hillsong album recordings, which are led by Reuben Morgan.

Hillsong United’s 16th album, Zion, is scheduled to be released in February 2013.

 A thousand times I’ve failed
Still Your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I’m caught in Your grace

    • Beth, this was a series that I did on Mondays for about a year and a half. I loved doing it, but the response was minimal, so I dropped it. I’m thinking of reviving it. Hugs to you too, dear friend!
