Greetings from Monday Melody Land! I’m here coming off of a great weekend spent with friends from high school. Sure doesn’t feel like we’ve been out of school that long! I hope you had a marvelous weekend too.
Why it made the cut: This song is my go-to joint, especially when I feel like things are unraveling in life. “You Hold My World” reminds me that God is still in control, no matter how crazy the stuff around me may become. He’s got my back, and it doesn’t get any better than that.
It’s a privilege to remind ourselves about what God says to us and about us in His Word. Israel gives worshipers a tool in this song to “build up ourselves in our most holy faith.” The words create a perspective (God is still reigning and loves me unconditionally) from which we can go out and do what He’s called us to do in complete faith (“I’m not afraid; my world is safe in Your hands”). Who could ask for anything more?
Artist: Israel Houghton is one of the most renowned worship leaders of the 21st century, as well as a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
Both in solo projects and with his group, Israel and New Breed, Houghton has carved out an enviable reputation as a melder of musical genres, such as gospel, rock, jazz, reggae, and soul, to produce “the sound of the new breed” of worshipers. His is the cross-centered, cross-cultural music of a generation who truly worship in Spirit and truth.
In addition, his focus on intense, connected worship, as evidenced in the Deeper Level Conferences, and his consistent call to social justice, intentional mercy, and God-inspired compassion have placed him in the forefront of Christian advocacy worldwide.
I confess You are my righteousness
And until You move me I’ll be still
And know that You are God!
