Saturday Soup – January 12, 2013

My first full week of work in 2013 has ended.  Lord knows some Saturday Soup is in order!

Soup time!

Two thumbs up of the week:  To German-Ghanian footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng for walking off the field because of the racist chants against him (yes, in 2013) by nuts fans of the opposing team.

SMH (shaking my head) story of the week: Louie Giglio wont be giving the benediction on Inauguration Day.  His crime:  a mid-1990s sermon on a Christian response to homosexuality. I can’t …

“Really? Seriously?” of the week:  The Sisterhood.  Has anyone watched this train wreck show?   All I can say, based on the preview clip below (in my best Joyce Meyer voice), is “Why, Lord, why?”

Adding insult to injury:  Real Husbands of Hollywood.   I guess in the age of political correctness, this was bound to happen.  To quote Sweet Brown, “ain’t nobody got time for that!”

Innovation of the week: The Lifestraw.  Saw this awesome product on Interesting Engineering’s Facebook page.  It purifies water before it reaches the lips.  Ingenious.  Think of the millions of people worldwide this device can help!

Video of the week:  Any selfless gesture has me at “hello.”  Giving away your home for a year to a homeless family?  Priceless.  Tony Tolbert, may your tribe increase!

Cause of the week (and always):  Yesterday was End Human Trafficking Day.  My go-to anti-trafficking sites are The Exodus Road, Abolition International, and the A21 Campaign, all of which are strong on information and advocacy.

  1. Reminds me of chatting about the madness with the ladies around your kitchen table… Great quick wrap up. We have to know what the battle is so that we can wage war… love it! 🙂
