Saturday Soup – January 26, 2013

We had a short work week after MLK Day.  Time to add some fresh ingredients to today’s Saturday Soup!

Soup time!

Video of the week:  As we come to the end of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, this succinct, graphics-laden description of  modern-day slavery by Free the Slaves is worth a look.

Record-setter of the week:  Worship leader Chris Tomlin hits a home run with his new album Burning Lights!  It debuted as the #1 album in the country, topping the Billboard 200 Chart.  P.S.:  We sang the album’s first single, “Whom Shall I Fear,” at church on Sunday. What an anthem!

Controversial tweet of the week: Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church tweeted his doubts about President Obama’s relationship with God on Inauguration Day–and got nearly 3,000 retweets and almost 8,00 likes on Facebook.   😯

Words to live by this week:  This inspiring manifesto by Ann Voskamp gave me a spiritual shot in the arm and shone light on the little things that bring joy and beauty to life.

Upcycle of the week:  Savvy Brown dishes up the most awesome tips on natural hair, green goodies, and fun frugalities.  I am so in love with this idea of using a glasses case  for corralling those pesky earphone and charger cords, especially when I’m travelling.  Is this beyond cool or what?
