I’m an island girl at heart, although I was born in London, known for its less than comforting weather. I crave warmth and find myself succumbing to a tad of sad when the days get shorter and there’s less light to go around later in the year.
But there’s something magical about winter that, once I can get past the cold (which poses a challenge, always) leaves me in awe of God’s work in this freezin’ season.
I’m reminded of Psalm 74:17: “You have set all the borders of the earth; you have made summer and winter.”
So far we’ve not had any appreciable snow in the metro D.C. area, and part of me is glad.
However, the other part eagerly anticipates at least one day this winter when I’m snuggled up inside, drinking something warm and replenishing, reading a gripping book on my trusty Kindle, catnapping on and off…
All the while, outside looks picture postcard perfect: a thick, pristine blanket of white embracing Mother Earth.
I dream of this winter wonderland, even though I know there’ll be beaucoup shoveling to do afterwards! Am I crazy or what? LOL!
